🦇 About Claire's Lair 🦇

Hi, and thanks for visitng my lair! This started as a smaller project to help my friends explore music and has now grown into a wepage! Partially I did this because I think everyone deserves explroation tools that are accessible and partially I did it because bands and artists deserve recognition. I've compiled Goth and gothic bands from all over the world for this list, and am always on the lookout for more! There's some of everything here from deathrock and postpunk, inudstrial and gothic metal, darkwave and coldwave, EBM, horror punk, and even black metal and dungeon synth. I am much more concerend with rather something has Goth sonic influences or if Goths and the gothicly inclined would be likely to enjoy something that rather or not they are one of the 20 bands r/goth considers Goth enough.

The list was originally started partially in memory of my good friend Misty Rose, AKA Sanctus Maniam. Misty was a Goth clown and drag artist raised by deathrockers. They also had many lists of bands, some of which I may get to peruse sometime. We had many converations about genre and how silly of a concept it becomes at a point. We would often disgaree that a band deserved a certain label and ultimatley end up doubled over at how stupid of a thing that is to be mad about. This is also an experience they shared with other friends of theirs. I wish she was here to help me with all of this, because she would love it. I'm always down to hear from you about why you thing an artist does or does not belong here, as long as we can agree that it's fucking silly.

There are bands on the list with who I have personal issues with one or more of the members, and some bands and artists that may be considered probelamtic. I don't really care about that and am just listing bands. That said, I have been tipped off that one band on the list utilizes rebel flag imagery. The person who alerted me of this cannot remember which band it was, only that they saw it on their YouTube music page. This is intolerable and if you come across which band it is, please let me know so that I may remove them.

There are currently about 1,100 bands and artists on this list.

A “*” indicates that a band is particularly buried and difficult to find and/or there are other bands with the same name. If you have trouble, ask a punk!
